Situated in a region celebrated for its exceptional coffees—one of Bekele’s lots placed 5th in the prestigious Cup of Excellence in 2021—Kokose benefits from ideal growing conditions: rich volcanic soils, high elevations, and a cool, misty climate that slows cherry maturation and enhances cup complexity. Here, the 74158 variety thrives, producing coffees with remarkable sweetness and clarity. At Kokose, traditional and innovative processing methods coexist, with dry processed coffees—including both natural and anaerobic styles—carefully prepared on raised drying beds.
This particular type of Ethiopian coffee is grown at elevations over 1800 meters, is exceptional and has a bright and complex taste with a variety of flavors including blackberry and cardamon notes that lingers on the tongue. We have roasted this coffee to balance its distinctive flavors, resulting in a medium to full-bodied coffee with medium acidity that pairs well with heavy, spicy, or savory foods.
